Why has Noble turned to s**t?
|
I have never slated him before and never gone along with Rodfarts, but he was really poor today. It seems to me his form mirrors that of the whole team. In the first half of the season, okay, he wasn't always at his best but had some cracking games and played a significant part in what was a very successful side. Since then he has often been woeful and seems to be getting worse - negative, over-cautious, lacking in creativity or adventure, and frequently losing possession. I wonder if he will be able to adjust to a more positive style under a new manager (please God) or has Allardyce really got inside his head?

Who else have we had that can take the ball from the edge of our are to the oppositions box quicker than it takes Nolan to turn full circle?

I don't think Diame has been missed at all, Kouyate is better than him for running, and doesn't do half as many mental runs ignoring team mates before losing it.
We need a West ham standard/lite version of PJANIC the Bosnian. He's a proper footballer. We just can't seem to create things easily.

I don't think this will go down well on here but I think we have missed Diame in the centre of midfield this season (even tho the fat cunt rarely played him there)

I agree with you in a lot of that and that is the position that seems to suit NOBLE as it allows him more time on the ball.......However I think it's at the expense of the team and causes us all sorts of problem the main one being he invites pressure onto our back four.

Fordy, I don't think Noble would be a problem if we had a creative player yeah. I think he's proved this season to be a better selection in front of the defence than Song has.
Song is miles better when more advanced than Noble is, because he's a little reluctant to take spot a risky pass, whereas Song has that vision.
i've no problem with Noble in front of the back four, it's his best position.

The 1st goal come from a counter, Noble dwelled and didn't release a pass quick enough, we eventually lost it and it was 1-1.
There were other factors in there, Cresswell for example, but disappointing we were a pass away from a chance ourselves about 20-30 seconds before conceding.

Is there a point there Eddie B? Did Noble play it back to the keep? Are you slagging Noble off for retaining possession?

Ron......confusing post?
Are you saying Noble is the player for that role? Or we need another player for that role?

There was that instance in the 2nd half on Sat where we broke with pace, Noble got the ball near their area, and it worked itself all the way back to our keeper.

Noble is a simple player on the ball, and decent in the tackle. His slide tackle was the best tackle of the game saturday. Brilliant timing and reading of the game. Especially to tackle and trap the ball and get up and walk away with it. Superb stuff.
Song has played there, and is a massive liability in front of defence as he kept losing it before even playing a ball, and putting us immediately under pressure and exposed. Also his passing is on occasions proper wafty, and can put us under pressure immediately too. (Spurs away last 10 mins anyone?)
As for Kouyate, I just don't get the fuss, great runner, shit on the deck. We need a little passing king in the middle. Not necessarily someone to provide goals by himself, but somebody to start a move which could lead to one.
Would be a breath of fresh air in this side for sure.

He'd be lucky if Martin O'Neill called him up based on his second half performance!

Having Noble as our ANCHOR MAN is the worst thing for the team.
He is not a natural defensive minded player, he ball watches and is never aware of his surroundings in the way a good defensive midfield player should be. He too often finds himself the wrong side of a player which you can get away with sometimes if you have a bit of pace.......which he don't.
What is garanteed with Noble is he is not the sort of player that can drag his team out of trouble and certainly not an all action midfielder.
it's funny aint it.......He has been part of the 1st team for years yet he still leaves us all debating as to what his best position is.....when in fact he should have his position well nailed down by now.

Must have looked different on the stream because he was excellent in the first half although he did seem to run out of steam.

Noble played ok for me on sat
Always solid defensively and used the ball well enough, i'd always have him in the side for his hunger and desire.....something every side needs and he provides it in abundance. His lack of pace seems to be showing more this season and i'd like to see him converted into a anchor man type midfielder
